De/Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/N.18.2.38. Four Door, Six Light Saloon - Bentley 50. Chassis 1.B.50. We send herewith a print of FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies}108, shewing the design of the body for 1.B.50, the car which it has been agreed should be ready in April this year, and also a copy of the Specification for your comments. We shew how the same body can be produced as a four or six light, and it is intended that the centre pillar be so placed as drawn that the model can be supplied with a division as an extra. It is desired that in the latter case the construction of the division be such that a car heating system using the R.R. heater and a radio set can be installed without structural alterations; a policy adopted by most American cars including the V.8. Ford. We have also arranged the dashboard so that a heater and defroster, and a radio can be installed there without any work other than fitting, in the case of cars without a division. It is suggested that all bodies be fitted with defroster ducts in the screen rail and capping for the same reason, following the American practice. You will note that we have given you an inch more room in the rear compartment than the Humber Snipe Imperial thus:- Humber. B.50. Screen glass to front of rear 16.500 17.500 seat. Back of division to front of 14.500 15.500 rear seat Will you please issue the necessary order to Messrs. Park Ward & Co. as we have asked them to go ahead with the full size drawing of the complete car, and to make a body and a mock-up of the complete car as they did for 1.B.5.
