[STAMP: RECEIVED JAN 13 1923]

Dear Sirs,

With further reference to your letter of the 22nd December, re B.D.T.11 battery returned by you, we are now in a position to report to you about this and regret the delay which has been caused by our annual stock-taking intervening.

Your are quite correct in what you say; washing out had largely removed the trouble and further washing might have put matters quite right.

In one cell there was a certain amount of deposited active material which was causing a partial short circuit and gradually running this cell down. With regard to your remark re one faulty cell letting down the whole battery, this is quite in order; one faulty cell will do so as the others will discharge into it.

We have now completely washed out all the cells and on the whole the battery is in quite good condition. All the negative plates, nearly all the separators, and most of the positive plates can be re-assembled and should continue to work satisfactorily for a considerable time. The inter-cell connections and terminals are all in good condition and free from corrosion.

We can re-assemble the battery and return it to you for further use if you desire it, or we can scrap it and give you credit for the material etc.

Awaiting you further instructions.

Yours faithfully,
FOR PETO & RADFORD.
