X3398 EFCL/T. 15th January, 1923. Messrs. Peto & Radford, 50, Grosvenor Gardens, London, S.W.1. Dear Sirs, We have your letter ref: MG/EB of the 12th inst., with regard to the BTD.11 battery sent to you for examination. We are particularly struck with your remark that one faulty cell will let the whole battery down "as the other cells will discharge into it." We should be much obliged for a more detailed explanation of this process as we find it difficult to imagine that one faulty cell can have any effect whatsoever on the other cells of the battery unless the insulation is imperfect. With regard to your last paragraph, we do not wish to have the battery again but would rather you gave us credit for the material as you suggest. We are gratified in your report that the plates, both positive and negative, are still in reasonably satisfactory condition. In view of the fact of one cell being short circuited, we suggest to you some improvement with a view to overcoming this, as we understand that you ascribe the failure of all the cells of the battery to the partial short circuiting of one of them. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
