We have issued a standardisation sheet for this unit which has been practically completed. Whilst we are satisfied as to the way the gauge functions, it appears to us that it may be a difficult thing to fit to an instrument board owing to its length. The depth of the mask is 4.00" and there is a further projection of 2¼" below the bottom of the mask. This projection cannot be reduced as it is necessitated by the principle of the gauge. If it protrudes below the bottom of the instrument board it will most certainly be hit by the knees of the occupants of the front seats and either they, or it, will be damaged. Therefore the top of the mask must be 6.25" above the bottom of the instrument board. Is this a serious feature from the coachbuilders point of view? or can they get it in visibly and attractively without spoiling the appearance of the other instruments.
