re CLAUDEL HOBSON PETROL GAUGE.
---------------------------

Referring to Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}19/M.5.7.28. the facts of the case in regard to this particular item are as follows :-

1/- In the first place the gauge was submitted to the Experimental Department who fitted it to a number of cars to try out its possibilities. It has to be fitted up without any design scheme from WW. as this did not exist.

2/- When the gauge was pressed for a standardisation sheet was sent round, and at the same time we wrote to WW. from this Department pointing out that we had no design for applying the scheme, and it would be necessary for them to get busy and let us have some information.

3/- In the absence of drawings or a WW. design, the Cost Department obviously cannot make any reliable estimate.

4/- We received a design from WW. recently, it is being detailed and immediately the blueprints are available the Cost Department will be supplied with a set.

5/- The need for cost figures to be added to the standardisation sheet that goes to BJ. in certain instances like the above are delayed because insufficient information is available at this end, as obviously the Cost Department will not give an estimate upon anything but the drawings to which the parts are going to be made.
