Present at the Meeting:- Sg.{Arthur F. EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Hym. HPS{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}/HJ. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}4/ET.5.10.41 was discussed. MILEAGE. The point was raised as to what mileage had been run by new cars of the rationalised type. 30.G.VII, the 8-cylinder prototype has now run almost 90,000 miles. 3.B.50, the 6-cylinder prototype, 43,000. FAULTS. These were dealt with in turn. The only point which arose was thatparts had now been received which will enable us to carry out the steering test. Information was also received during the Meeting that 4 sets of gear box pieces for the Senior Range were now available. 4-CYLINDER ENGINE. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} commented favourably upon the smoothness of this unit. It was agreed that it might be necessary to use it in the Senior Range chassis in order to provide an economical motor car whilst we were waiting to get into production with the Myth. No special modifications, however, would be made to the Bentley V rationalised chassis frame to take this engine. This would preserve interchangeability. The original shorter frame had been conceived before the Myth was projected. JUNIOR RATIONALISED RANGE. Myth parts were inspected in the shop and consisted of body hardware, the major portion of the engine components, a mock-up representing the seat position, bumpers and wheels. No parts were available from Park Wards. The necessity for getting an engine on test at the earliest possible moment was emphasised. Both types of head are needed for comparison. HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} said that the pivot would be the item which would dictate the chassis completion date. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} said that his complaint about Park Wards was that they would let the job stop for a number of weeks, then pick up car work with a rush for a short time, instead of going along steadily. There was no doubt that at present they were behind with the rest of the chassis pieces. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
