20 HP. CHASSIS GYK.40. ALLINGTON. O {Mr Oldham} /859651

We have your Wd {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} 4/NJ21.2.27, the explanation that seems most probable is that the charging and discharging to which this battery has been subjected with us and with the Exide Co. have put the cell in better condition.

There was no doubt that on our own test the particular cell in question only gave 3/4 of full capacity as given by the others, after a charge at normal charging rate, about 5 amperes, after a charge of 200% rated ampere-hour capacity. It is difficult to say how it came about that this particular cell happened to be in this condition and we inferred that there might be something inside the cell a little bit wrong.

If the possibility of a discharge having been taken from this cell only has been ruled out, then we can only say that it must have been one of those erratic phenomena which occasionally happens to batteries and which cannot be suitably explained.

In the circumstance we think the battery should be given back to the customer as there is no doubt that it has been improved by the skilled attention it has received.
