actually what the crank would stand, and whether any breakage was due to insufficient dimensions, or some secondary cause, such as torsional vibration.

I should be glad if you would discuss this matter with Messrs. Wormald, Day and Hives, and see whether it is possible to rig up such an apparatus sufficiently quickly for it to be of some value.
