Messrs. Gordon Armstrong Patent Suspension Co.,Ltd.,
Waltham Works,
Beverley, E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Yorks.

Dear Mr. Armstrong,

I have made arrangements for a king-pin and bush to be despatched to you to-day. The bush is a tight fit in the pivot, so it is advisable to drive the bush into position with the king-pin in order to ensure correct alignment of the bush. I attached a print showing the method of lubrication for the bush. There is, apparent-ly, .002" clearance between the stand pipe and the bronze taper bush. As long as the king-pin itself is in the correct position relative to the front axle, the lubrication should be satisfactory.

With regard to the failure of the damper shaft on the bumper, which is one of the original dampers with the undercut in the shaft, we are very anxious to con-tinue tests with hobbed 60 ton material shafts. Although we do not want to use unnecessarily large shafts, we cannot afford to have a single failure in customers' hands; so that if we are at all near the dange limit with these shafts with our high loads, it will be necessary to change the larger shaft.

Yours sincerely,
