Messrs. Gordon Armstrong Patent Suspension Co.,Ltd.,
Waltham Works,
Beverley, E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} YORKS:

Dear Mr. Armstrong,

We have now struck a fresh problem in the way of splitting the top valve guide. This is due to the high load required on the lower valve in order to get 200 lbs load on the damper. It looks as if the thickness of the valve guide will have to be increased, which should be possible with the smaller area valves.

I am arranging for the pair of hand control dampers that we have to be fitted to the rear of a Phantom III. This has 10.250" complete axle movement. The dampers we have got have strokes of 10.312" and 10", which is a little dangerous. So it would be very helpful if you could arrange for the next pair of hand control dampers to have the maximum possible travel. In the position in which we are putting the dampers the lever lengths and shapes, as on the rear of your car, seem to be most convenient. Any increase in lever length would mean going to a lever about 13" long.

We should be grateful to have some replacement parts for the ones which we have broken, in order to keep the bumper chassis running.

Yours sincerely,
