R.R. 235a (150 H) (W.W. 276. 12-5-14) G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} 6547. X740 Extract from Peat's report of June 3rd, 1914, sent from Spain. "Beg to suggest also, that the temperature of the lubricating oil has a large bearing on this trouble. (concluding) At the present time we not only use our bottom half of crank-case to collect the oil as it drops from the bearing, but we use it to carry the oil - as our reservoir in fact. The oil lies here in one of the hottest parts of the engine and practically boils. I cannot help thinking that if we pumped the oil out as fast as it feil and passed ti through an oil radiator before it again entered the engine the result would be a much lower maximum of engine temperature and a better lubricated engine."
