HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} FROM DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} ORIGINAL C to SC. WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} (struck through) C to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} (struck through) DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}4/M6.5.31. Y5260. Y5600. Y5770. 20/25 - SECOND HALF OF 'T' SERIES. BONNET & SIDE WHEEL CARRIER. Due to coachwork commitments in the form of coachbuilders stocks and of our own stock bodies, we cannot do more on the second half of 'T' series than to carry the bonnet .187 over the dashboard as is done on P. 2 - N. 2. series. The longer bonnet carried over say 4" entails a wider dashboard, as on J.3., and of course would scrap any existing bodies. We understand that there will be diabolo rear feet on the engine of the second half of 'T' series and that these feet will have the horizontal top plate. We would be glad if HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} would say whether, with this foot which we believe is now in use on production, the side wheel carrier is adequately steady. We ourselves have heard no complaints from Sales. If it is not sufficiently steady we can have a stay to the top of the carrier from the dashboard on this next series of cars, and we suggest that this is the solution which should be used until we come to the lengthened bonnet 4" over the dash when we admit that we shall have to take some other measures. We suggest that if we are to hope to increase the quantity of each order of stock bodies we shall have to group together our chassis changes which affect coachwork, and give Sales a long warning. We suggest therefore that we ought to consider, when we do come to this very much lengthened bonnet, whether we ought not at the same time to introduce the top tank of J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} 3. as already drawn, so only making one change.
