Your Ref: Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 11/ML. 19th March, 1940. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Limited, DERBY. Attention of W. A.{Mr Adams} Robotham, Esq., Dear Sirs, Thermostatic Relief Valve. We thank you for your letter of the 11th inst., in connection with the above. As we understand the position, the broad idea of providing a relief valve with a thermostatic control was suggested by you, but the details of the design were worked out by our Mr. Grose. A patent of any value should cover not only this broad idea but the details of the preferred construction which has been worked out by us, and any such patent to be valid would have to include not only the inventor of the basic idea, but also the inventor of the detailed construction. It is for this reason that we suggested that our two Companies should combine to obtain as strong a patent as possible. Yours faithfully, for, S. SMITH & SONS (Motor Accessories) LTD., (Signature) G.S. STURROCK, Manager, Patent Department. TO AVOID DELAY ALL ENVELOPES SHOULD BE ADDRESSED TO THE FIRM. | ||
