Mr. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} W. Hives,
Rolls Royce Ltd.,
Derby, England.

Dear Mr. Hives:

RE: SHOCK ABSORBER

I would like you to examine the attached folder of the TWO-WAY shock absorber which is made by the Auto Spring Control Company of Jamestown, New York, and has been fitted to some Rolls Royce cars in New York by a Mr. A.{Mr Adams} J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} Passage.

The similarity with the Rolls Royce shock absorber is interesting, although you will notice that he relies on atmospheric filling. The use of velocity effect through small apertures on the discharge may interest you.

We have no knowledge of the device from our own experience.

Yours very truly,

Maurice Olley
