P. 2. SHOCK DAMPERS.

With reference to your recent memo. on the above, we have completed a spring loaded piston suitable for use with an existing shock damper.

As requested by BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} we shall not send this to Derby until it has received R's approval.

In the meanwhile we should be very glad if you would give us some additional information.

In dealing with the larger shaft may we have new shock damper bodies, that is to say, existing castings that have not been drilled? If we may then we shall be able to get in a larger shaft than if we have to take existing machined castings and prepare them to receive a larger shaft. It is obvious that before we shall have a new shock damper of this type, and what we are anxious to know is how does production stand.

We believe that no Phantoms are being made except the L.H. type and probably all the shock dampers are made for these latter.
