X.7520. X.5520. Herewith is print of N. scheme 3225.- Spring loaded piston for use with existing P. 2. rear shock dampers, in accordance with R1/M7.2.31. Derby have said they would prefer a new lever with the roller surface solid. On the right hand side we have shewn that on account of the dimensions of the existing lever it would be difficult to get the pads in., but an un-machined forging could be used. On account of the undercut in the existing cylinder bore the pistons cannot be made long enough to guide themselves and we are relying on the studs. In a future damper the undercut could be removed, but on no account of the eccentric loading it may be better to rely on the studs in any case. The suggestion is that the P. 2. rear damper might be used on both front and rear of the 25HP. should this be necessary. The existing 25HP. dampers have a valve in the piston.
