the bedding of the front brakes and Depots should be advised accordingly.

Re future cars, a small modification which would be of immediate benefit is increasing the area of friction surface on the swinging arm to make this operation more consistent and to enable more load to be obtained at this point.

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} will tackle this immediately from the design end and if possible get it on 5-B-IV.

There are a number of modifications on test which improve the efficiency of the servo and which in turn help to cure the above and some of these will be tested on 5-B-IV.

5. Oil on Rear Brakes.

Existing Cars - there is said to be a scheme which can be applied to existing cars whereby a leather seal ring is fitted to the axle shaft.

It was left for E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} to see whether this was so and, if so, to arrange with Ey to get it on production as quickly as possible.

Re future Cars, same scheme should be applied.

6. Inefficiency of brakes after the car has been washed.

Existing cars. The remarks under Jaggers when coming to rest with the linings wet equally apply.

Future Cars do do do do do

7. Front Brakes ineffective, when rear wheels are locked.

No action to be taken at the present time for the reasons mentioned in the memo. quoted under 7 and 4.

8. Brakes fading. Reference is made in the memo. to a better servo lining and an improved method of attachment which permits of better cooling which reduces fading to a marked extent.
