Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/AJL2/AD4.7.30. X7580 X5580 TOOL KIT REDUCTION. With reference to Pnl/WT2.7.30. the proposed reduction of tool kit was arrived at after considerable thought and deliberation by various officials at Derby. In spite of the fact that our brakes squeak we cannot think it is necessary to supply every car with the necessary tools to take the hubs off; especially after we go to the trouble of sealing them. We do not know what a customer can do to cure his brakes from squeaking after he has dismantled his hubs, the cure which we should imagine is used most generally, viz. the use of oil and paraffin, can be done without taking the hubs off. These tools are also bulky, heavy and expensive. We are glad that you agree to the deletion of the hydrometer. The remaining two tools which the Inspection Dept. have voted against, should only be necessary when the car is in a Depot. The steering column ball race needs adjustment very infrequently and the water connection nut only when decarbonizing. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/AJL. | ||
