1260. To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} & Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} From RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} c.c. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} & Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}1/DK.27.8.38. CHASSIS PRODUCTION. Phantom III. Chassis have been produced up to 105 in 'D' Series which included 20 with the Gear Boxes of the Overdrive Type, leaving 95 Chassis to be produced which are scheduled for 1939 Production. We had intended to issue the Material Release Schedule for 'E' Series in October, but since the remaining 95 Phantom III. Chassis are scheduled for Production in 1939 there will be more time to study the modifications which are to be introduced on this Series. The impression we have is that it is intended to introduce the Wraith Wheel Movement and Rear Brake with deletion of the Hand Brake Shoes, and other points which Design may have in mind. Since therefore more time is available for a decision to be made as to what specification the 'E' Series Chassis should be the Material Release Schedule will not be issued until March, 1939, so that a decision with regard to the modifications to be introduced can be decided.
