COPY S/W Ep{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} re GUL-82 - Trials Car Cxl/KW14.4.36 With regard to our conversation over the telephone this morning, the following are extracts from the reports we are getting about this car, the volume of which is much greater than we have ever had before .- Extract from letter dated May 7th from Lord Londesborough. "I was rather disappointed with the car. The springing was very bad on the actual car I tried, being much too light. The car did not hold the road well, rolled badly on corners. I think all these faults are probably due to springing. I do not think at the price the car is worth the money as it behaved on bends and on the rough road rather like an ordinary American car.." Extract from letter dated May 12th from Hoopers re run given to Mr.W.Brown. "Unfortunately he found the springing of the car very light, and this he said affected the steering. Enquired whether there was a car available with stiffer springs; otherwise he would prefer to wait until next year". Extract from report from Driver Turner dated 9th May re demonstration to Mr.Barber of Birmingham "He liked the car very much but thought the springing a bit light". Extract from report from Driver Turner dated 9th May re run given to Mr.Johnson of Derby. "He thought springing and steering much too light". Extract from report from Driver Turner dated 9th May re run given to Mr.Langford of Moseley. "Liked car very much but thought steering was very light". | ||
