X. 8230 To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} S E C R E T. E1/M20.12.24. c, to CJ. HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} EXHAUST FITTINGS - 'V' SERIES. We send you herewith drawings Nos. LeC. 1962/65/68., dealing with the above. Before leaving WW. Mr. Royce instructed us that we should use the conventional drop forged brackets for holding up the rear silencer. We have accordingly produced the design shewn on LeC.1965. As however this means rather elaborate dies for making this forging we have schemed two alternatives in sheet metal shewn on LeC.1968, and sent prints of these drawings to Mr. Royce if he wishes to countermand his original instructions with respect to the use of the drop forged bracket we will let you know. The rear silencer on this system is of larger capacity than the old 40/50., and is divided into four-chambers by baffle plates instead of three. We will in due course send you a scheme dealing with the cutout on the end of the rear silencer. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
