RE. 'V' SERIES REAR EXHAUST SILENCER X.8230
AND CUT-OUT. X.8490

We send you herewith drawings LeC.1970/1., dealing with the above. Mr. Day is dealing with the question of controls and is connecting up the valve shewn to an existing toggle operated foot lever, of which no doubt you will shortly receive complete particulars.

The two ends of the silencer as shewn on LeC.1971 (of which is the same in general shape as the front end of) are made from similar pressings, the design of the rear silencer already sent through. We have however as you will notice simplified the end diaphragm of this pressing.

The angle of the cutout valve has been made larger than that used for the carburetter throttle to avoid jamming on the seat due to temperature change effects.

We have sent blue prints of these schemes to Mr. Royce for his approval.

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}
