Endurance test of Steering Column Ignition Switch
This switch having been fitted with a bakelite insulated drum, instead of the standard stabalite insulated drum was fitted up & driven at 40 revs per min. on load. After it had ran for a period of 25 hours, that is equal to 60,000 revs it was estimated that it had done 10,000 miles which means that the switch would make 6 revs per mile on the car.
The magneto was running the whole of the time, but the battery ignition was only running for 23 hrs which is equal to 55,200 revs, that is 5-52 revs per mile on the car. It was noticed that after running 7.5 hours or 18,500 revs the switch
