Inspection
After having ran for 25 hours the switch was dismantled for examination, when the drum was withdrawn from its case a fair amount of dust came out with it, composed of brass & ebonite, the brass coming from the small bush which was found to be considerably worn, & the ebonite being worn away by the brass plungers. It was also noticed that the insulation was burnt at the ends of the segments due to the sparking. this being worst in the case of the magneto earthed segment.
