NITROFIED STEEL.

From the report Hl.1/EH10.11.28. One might assume that Messrs. Firths have not got very far with the treatment of the nitro alloy.

During our last visit to WW., R. {Sir Henry Royce} expressed the view that, if necessary, for experimental parts we should obtain the steel from France. We ought to go to the people who are the most advanced in handling the steel.

R. {Sir Henry Royce} was a trifle impatient that we had not got a single experimental piece on which to test this material, yet there were reports that other firms had actually standardised it for certain parts.

Our own opinion is that we should obtain samples and if necessary send an expert to Messrs. Aubert & Duval, Paris who have the most experience in using this material on automobile parts.
