The whole series of experiments can be run off without very much trouble, and such an arrangement would be good for testing the comparative value of :- 1. Ignition advance. 2. Richness of mixture. 3. Compression. 4. Bonnets. 5. Under screens. 6. Fans. 7. Fan speeds. 8. as well as radiators. 9. so that in future taking our present standard as a datum we can find out whether an engine of another type heats more water than the present engine. There should in future therefore be no need to wait for either hot weather, or to send cars to any particular part of the World to be tested on any particular hill, which will be so inconvenient and even then not sufficiently exact, as well as being very costly.
