From Exp. Dept. Copies for: J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} R.{Sir Henry Royce} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Na.{Mr Nadin} RE RADIATOR TESTS. We have tested several radiators on the rig which we have made to Mr Royce's instructions. The arrangement works very well and we are able to obtain reliable comparisons of the efficiency of different sizes and makes of radiators. We have got it rigged up in the wash shed, we can close this place right up so that we can control varying atmospheric conditions. By adjusting the steam valve we can keep the water temperature in the tank exactly the same all through the test, one thermometer is directly in the pipe close up to the radiator, the other one is in a small tin which the water overflows out of. We have a tachometer on the fan to see that the speed remains constant. There is a glass gauge tube outside the tank so that we can read off accurately the amount of water passing through the radiator. I think this test will prove to be a perfect method of comparing radiator efficiency because there are no variations which we cannot control and watch. 4796 | ||
