WATFORD TYPE LW6A MAGNETOS WITH TUNGSTEN POINTS.

Standardisation of the above magnetos is now completed and these machines are about to be used on production.

In the meanwhile we have had removed for examination from experimental chassis 23-EX magneto No.118714 of this type, this machine having completed a total of 20,000 miles running (including the 10,000 mile test in France) over a period of eight months. My assistant's report ML.59 resulting from the examination of this machine reads as follows :-

"The condition of the magneto mechanically was found to be very good and quite O.K. The tungsten contact breaker contacts were removed and examined which shewed both points bedding together 100% with a clean grey unoxidized surface on each, no pitting being evidenced. Wear had been negligible on each point and the points should last another 30,000 miles before wearing down to the iron.
