Miscellaneous Tests of Narrow Brushes.

It is thought worthwhile recording the results of some observations made (incidentally, perhaps, but none the less accurately) on some standard grade narrow brushes, run under normal conditions on the cars.

The brushes, comprising two sets fitted to I and K dynamos respectively, were examined and measured before the machines were put on the cars.

Changes on the cars brought the observations to an end, when the brushes were again measured. The results are given below.

| Dynamo | Miles Travelled | Position | Brush Wear | | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| | | | Positive | Negative | Control |
| I. | 8,300 | Inner. | .0015" | .001" | .007" |
| | | Outer. | .001" | .002" | .012" |
| K.{Mr Kilner} | 6,973 | Inner. | .002" | .0015" | .009" |
| | | Outer. | .0025" | .0015" | .0115" |
