On both machines the brushes were well polished. The commutators were light brown in colour, and also fairly well polished.

These results confirm our opinion that, commutation generally on the N13 machine is better than that on the late standard (WB{Mr Brazier/Mr Bell}) machine. Also, that there is no fear of excessive brush wear as a result of the brushes being narrow.
