B-35-AE for Le Mans.

Before Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} went away he gave me a list of all the jobs required on this car, and I find that instructions for the following have not been sent to you :-

(1) The radiator should be present production lightened type. This may require an interchange of bottom tanks to suit the mounting on the car.

(2) Cooling louvres should be cut in the top of the bonnet but not so that oil can be flung on the windscreen. We think this means that they will have to be on the nearside of the bonnet only.

(3) All the petrol pipe lines should be inspected and annealed.

(4) A second petrol pump should be fitted on the dash, the suction pipe going via a tap to the outlet of the existing main reserve tap. This pump should be fitted with a flexible delivery pipe taped or wired to the air silencer or some suitable place so as to be accessible in case of need.

(5) Provision should be made for a new large petrol gauge to be fitted on the instrument board.

(6) Magnesium dashboard and clutch pit should be fitted.

(7) The 2 3/4" dia. exhaust pipe should be lagged the whole of the distance where it is inside the undershield.

We have heard from Gleasons that the 12/41 axle gears will be shipped on May 28th on the Berengaria. Will you please prepare a complete new axle with the necessary modifications to the bore of the pinion housing, etc. (to be supplied by By/Cgh.{W Clough}). Both axles will be tried on the Le Mans circuit during practice, and the more suitable left on the car for the race.

Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}

P.S. We want to arrange easy means of repairing any failure in the electrical wiring. We have come to the conclusion that the best way to do this is as follows :-
