For the attention of Mr.H.R.Buckland.

Dear Sir,

In the continuance of our tests on the new lightened type instruments fitted with the new trip and total mileage recorder we have had another case of mysterious behaviour on the part of the trip counter. Apparently it ceased to function for a short while, according to the drivers statement and then carried on satisfactorily. We have been able to get hold of the instrument in question and are carrying out investigations on the bench. In the mean time I think it is important that you hold up any further work on this trip and total mileage counter in respect of the possibility of bringing it on production as discussed on the occasion of your last visit.

We will write you again later on with regard to what we find wrong with this Instrument.

In the mean time we suggest that you let us have for test another instrument with this trip and total mileage recorder in order to gain further experience as we are most anxious to avoid any subsequent trouble on production in the event of standardising the same.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
