ORIGINAL 9.5" PENDULUM LEVER. X8430 [handwritten] X7420 [handwritten and struck through] We have been continuing tests with the 9.5" pendulum lever on a heavy closed standard car. There is no doubt that it makes the parking of the car very much pleasanter, and at the same time seems to have a tendency to reduce road shocks. For owners who are road-shock fanatics, we can, with this lever, increase the cross steering friction slightly, increase the pivot lean to preserve the self-centering, and so add additional damping to supplement the advantage of increased resisting leverage, while making the steering no heavier than standard. We think this short pendulum lever would enable us to satisfy the one or two exceptional customers who still have fads which the standard steering does not quite meet. We have found no disadvantage from it whatever at high speeds, and still think it would be of real help to Springfield in overcoming their parking problems. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/W.
