AUTOCHARGE CONTROL SWITCH

In our EFC3/T30.11.27 we remarked that we felt it would ultimately be your desire to have the auto switch unit incorporated in the distribution box. We sent you a blueprint of an electrical diagram of this imaginary distribution box containing the auto switch unit in addition to the cutout, the external connections to this box being precisely as at present.

In going over directions of windings with a view to arriving at a definite standard which is in line with the present winding directions of the cutout, we have arrived at an approved winding directions such that in the case of both the cutout and auto switch there will be a north magnetic pole under the moving lever, due to the shunt winding. It has been necessary to alter the diagram referred to to come into line. Accordingly we are sending you another diagram of the distribution board with cutout and auto switch (dated Feb. 1928) in which the winding directions are finally approved. We suggest that the old print previously sent should now be destroyed. The diagram of connections now given is intended to act as a guide should the design of such a combined unit come under consideration. It was suggested, it may be remembered, that in such a design, both the cutout and auto switch unit might be made replaceable each as a unit without necessitating the removal of the distribution box base.
