① Radiator :- (a) Adequacy as regards cooling - see cooling system generally below (8) (b) Structural & fatigue strength - if completely new design is in question or new principle such as pressure cooling or new type of matrix core, at least 6 radiators should be built & run, either in different cars, or by interchanging on a number of cars so that a minimum total of 180,000 car miles are covered. Detailed examination must be made as regards final condition, including breaking up matrices for this purpose. (d) Durability of plating, finish etc - if new plating methods or materials are employed, at least two radiators must be in service for at least 1 year each, & must show no signs of rust corrosion, plating flaking etc at end of this period. | ||
