346 Experimental Department Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Les.13/AP. 7th December 1936. Messrs Marconi-Ekco Instruments Ltd., Electra House, Victoria Embankment, LONDON W.C.2. For the attention of Mr.Perkins. Dear Sirs, Thank you for your letter of the 24th ultimo., reference CHP/LMC. We require for investigating the character-istics of shock absorbers a means for measuring instant-aneously the load in a shock absorber link. The load in each direction would be 500 lbs. maximum giving a total range of load of 1000 lbs. We would want the load to be recorded by a pencil on to paper having a stroke of 2" in each direction for maximum load, giving a total of 4" stroke. We should be interested to hear if you think this can be done electrically. Would a Piezzo Crystal be suitable.? If you think you can see a way to producing a satisfactory suitable instrument, perhaps you would like to discuss the matter with us on Thursday, 10th inst. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
