346 Experimental Dept. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Les.12/JH. 9th December, 1936. Messrs. Thomas Firth & John Brown Ltd., Norfolk Works, Sheffield. Dear Sirs, Referring to our leaf road springs we find that the Phantom springs are machine ground all over from thicken material, where as the 25 H.P. and Bentley springs are rolled cancave and then ground and polished by hand. Obviously the method used for the 25 H.P. and Bentley springs must be a considerable saving in cost. Will you please let me know therefore what the saving in cost would be for the Phantom spring if produced. under the same method as the 25 H.P. and Bentley. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
