#s X3806 To By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GWH.{George W. During my recent visit to Cricklewood the increased number of rear brake actuating shaft seizures was brought to my notice. The seizures are taking place in the bearing situated in the brake anchor plate. This bearing has to rely on oil draining down the shaft, the bijur being situated at the lever end. On the Phantoms the Bijur is a number 3. This is the maximum bijur we fit, therefore we have either to obtain a larger drip bij-ur or see whether the supply is too obstructed along the shaft. On the 25.HP. we fit a number 2. This could be increased to a number 3. Immediately the job is urgent as in a number of cases it means relining the brake, the shoes having remained expanded.
