Dunlop wheel. A slight increase in the weight of the rim is counterbalanced by the fact that the straight sided tyre is lighter than the beaded tyre and that there are no security bolts.

X.4197. When straight sided tyres become standard we think it will be necessary to consider a mechanically driven tyre pump because with straight sided tyres one need only carry one spare wheel for immediate use and then spare tubes and covers.

The changing of the a tube or cover is no effort whatever with the demountable rim. We think most of the virtue would be lost if the tyre that was changed had to be pumped up by hand.
