Attention of Mr. Clarke.

Dear Mr. Clarke:

I have your letter of the 21st of February, last and must apologize for not answering it before.

1. The generators in question are our own make of generator as shown on drawing A-9547 of which I enclose herewith a print.

This is based on an earlier English generator with modifications to convert to six volts instead of twelve.

2. The weight of the generator complete with cutout is 30 1/2 lbs. Chart A-12982 shows the generator characteristics plotted from an average of four generators in December 1928, whereas, SK-415 shows what we were getting in January of this year. This shows in comparison a lower peak, but maintains the output at 2500 revolutions (45 m.p.h.) together with a slightly later cut in speed on the later instruments.

3. The dimensions of this generator can be scaled close enough from A-9547.
Electrical dimensions are:

Armature slots - 29 Commutator bars - 29
Armature wire - 16B and SGA. D.C.C. (16 wires per slot - two coils in parallel).
Field coils - 98 turn 15B and SGA. S.C.C. enamel wire.

4. The cutout, which controls the output at low speeds, operates approximately at seven volts and the speed at which this occurs is held between 700 and 750 r.p.m.

5. We do not know what is the maximum setting at which the generator will run before it overheats. We know that it will run in-
