X.4263 To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to CJ. c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}2/M28.3.23. GOSHAWK 11. FRONT AXLE RADIUS RODS. X.4263. We send herewith N.scheme 1389 shewing the general arrangement of the radius rods on the car. This drawing also shews the setting of the side steering tube. It will be noticed that the lock is reduced 4° on the R.H. lock, and 5° on the L.H. lock, making equal locks of 36°. In order to obtain perfect geometry it is necessary to have 2 positions of the rear radius rod bracket, which means slightly different length in the tubes, and presents we think very little difficulty. Mr. Royce is very keen that we should get the most perfect results from this modification. This completes the information we are sending you with reference to Goshawk radius rods.
