1B 87773. MINUTES OF CONFERENCE HELD IN WOR{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}'S ROOM (7.3.30). RE SPECIFICATION OF 40/50 PHANTOM II CHASSIS WITH MODIFICATIONS AGREED BY THE AMERICAN CO. The following were present :- OY. Srn. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Items in Whr{Mr Wheeler}2/D20.1.30. were considered. (a) Body Subframe not to be supplied. After discussion it was agreed, to gain experience, we build the two experimental chassis with sub-frames. Whether the standard production chassis are to be fitted with sub-frames will be decided at a later date. (b) Exhaust cut-out not to be supplied. No discussion necessary. (c) Steering to be left-handed with necessary consequential modifications, including gearbox and brake levers. OY. mentioned the question of clearance on the hand levers, etc. and BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} is giving this matter his attention. (d) Carburetter to be exhaust-heated. There is no difficulty about this, because it is now a standard fitting on our own production chassis. (e) Wheels to be of the flat base type to take 19" x 7" tyres. By.{R.W.
