- 2 - (g) Rolls-Royce Limited will supply with each chassis a fitting of their design and approved by them to enable the American Company to add bumpers to each chassis. Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} mentioned that he has the question of design in hand and this should be ready on Monday or Tuesday of next week (11.3.30). It was decided both the Experimental chassis should be fitted with the necessary pieces for bumpers. It may be that the necessary forgings, etc. will not be ready in time when the first chassis is completed, but they will be added at the earliest possible moment. CY. mentioned that it is very important to find out whether the bumpers are attached to the frame in the right way in order to see that the frame is stronger than the bumpers. (h) Headlamp Brackets are not required, but posts to be supplied to enable the American Company to fit their own headlamp brackets. Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} will be issuing instructions in about 7 days for this item. (j) Chromium or other untarnishable finish as may be mutually agreed to be given to those external parts usually nickel-plated, but not to parts inside the complete car, i.e. steering column, brake levers, etc. It was agreed the finish for the two experimental cars should be similar to the finish of Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}'s car. (k) Radiator Shutters to be automatically controlled. Agreed will be on first chassis. (l) Lubrication to be modified to give :- (a) Extra lubrication at starting: (b) Lubrication of clutch coupling: (c) Axles to be connected to the central lubrication scheme, provided Rolls-Royce Ltd. have passed these modifications for production. Lubrication to be modified, etc. will be on first chassis if possible, or so as not to prevent progress of first chassis, it will be fitted as soon as possible. Contd......... | ||
