INSTRUMENTS.

We get occasional complaints of condensation on Bentley instruments, and this is thought to be due to moisture being retained in the wax with which the coils of the petrol meter are impregnated.

We have instructed that a small ventilation hole is now to be put in to enable the instrument to ventilate itself with changes of temperature, and I think this will cure the trouble. However, an alternative was to go back to Bakelite Varnish, and a sample has been handed to you herewith, for examination and test.

This odd sample may be alright, but I think that Bakelite Varnish is too hard for the delicate type of coil and end connections that are used.

Will you please let us have your remarks.

Instructed to go on.
