W/S Py c. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. RG.{Mr Rowledge} c. HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} RECEIVED X4196 EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}9/H.17.1.28. re. Vickers 'Scout'. Our tester Smith wired us last night to the effect that the Vickers 'Scout' left Vickers for Martlesham Heath yesterday afternoon, but had to return owing to sparking plug trouble. We telegraphed to Smith to obtain from the Champion Plug Co. some of the R.12./type plugs now agreed to by RG.{Mr Rowledge} and Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} for the F.11. engines. We have just received the following wire from Smith:- "Vickers Scout left for Martlesham 10.45. O.K.". EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} Later. We learn from Archer that the Vickers Scout has had to descend at Hendon due to plug trouble, but hopes to get it away to Martlesham this afternoon. Here again, as with the Westland Wizard, lack of sufficient testing to satisfy us that the engine and machine will function satisfactorily is re-acting to our detriment. EP.{G.
