Swindell} HPS{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}/LK.{L. King}1/VS.{J. Vickers}18.7.38. BENTLEY MAIN BEARINGS. In accordance with HPS{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}/WSC.{W. S. Cassel}4/B/12.7.38. the following main bearings have been removed from the test rig after completing 9 1/2 hours' running at 4500 R.P.M. Nos. 1 to 6 produced in A.C.7. material with R.R.56 liners, No. 7 bearing and liners produced in W/MT. The condition of all intermediate bearings is satisfactory, excepting No. 6 which is badly scored due to the bearing seizing up. Nos. 1 and 4 bearings are in good condition. The thrust bearing, No. 7, is satisfactory except that small cracks and marks of hard wear are apparent on the face of the rear flange. HPS{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}/L. King. | ||
