Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter of the 19th Dec. 1927., and accompanying print. We have consulted with our Experimental Dept., who agree that they can make a satisfactory test of this type of pump from the model you suggest. It will be satisfactory if you leave about 2½" of plain shaft of the full diameter protruding beyond the gland. Our working pressure will not exceed 100 lbs. per sq. in. Would you kindly send the demonstration pump, when ready, to Rolls-Royce Ltd. Derby, for the attention of Mr. Hives. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
