To D.A. from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Copy to C.U. " " B.H. " " H.V. " " B. " " E.P.C. RE FRONT AXLE SWIVEL PINS. ✓3 E2/C9/6/19. X.682 X.3441 RECEIVED During Mr. Haldenby's recent visit to West WitteringHenry Royce's home town, Mr. Royce and Mr. Haldenby dissembled one of the steering pivots of chassis 7 CA. It was found difficult during these operations to take down the swivel pin of the axle, since having a parallel fit, it had to be driven the whole of the way out of the front axle. ? Would you kindly note that Mr. Royce wishes all swivel pins to be made with a taper. This applies to the 40/50 H.P., 20 H.P. and the new 50 H.P. chassis. Probably 1 in 200 will be found suitable, the surface of the taper being relieved in the centre so as to secure a good fit at each end. Would you kindly give suitable effect to Mr. Royce's wishes.
