1124- To H1. (Mr. Whitehead. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation}21/JH.26.10.38. Cylinder Heads. We are passing for your attention sections removed from two cylinder heads which we have been testing, in connection with the cracking of valve seats. The seats of one head cracked almost immediately, while the other head did not crack even after prolonged testing. The castings are supposed to be the same, but we would like all the information you can supply regarding analysis, structure, brinell, micro-photographs etc. and any other information which might account for the different results. The two sections are labelled, and their casting numbers are A.3.9 and A.4.9. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation} | ||
