REPORT ON PRICES' MOTORINE "C" & GAS ENGINE OIL.

Report No. HC.243.

SUMMARY.
The results of laboratory tests on Prices' motorine C. and Prices' Gas Engine oil are given in this report.

Motorine C. appears to be a compound oil containing 4% of a fixed oil. It has a viscosity intermediate between Vacuum A.{Mr Adams} and Vacuum B.B.

The Gas Engine Oil is an oil of the same type containing about 5% of a fixed oil. Its viscosity is below that of Vacuum A.{Mr Adams} Neither of the oils appear to be so suitable for Aeroplane engines as those at present in use and would probably be inferior to Castrol R.{Sir Henry Royce} for use in Rolls-Royce Engine.

1. Samples.
One gallon cans of Motorine C. and Gas Engine Oil were purchased from Prices' Ltd. for the purpose of carrying out a Laboratory test to see how it compared with Castrol R.{Sir Henry Royce}

2. Appearance.
Motorine C. had the usual dark red colour and green fluorescence of a Pensylvanian mineral oil. Prices's gas engine oil was similar in appearance but much lighter in colour.

3. Tests.
Physical tests in these oils gave the following results which are given in comparison with those from Castrol R.{Sir Henry Royce} and Vacuum A.{Mr Adams} and B.B. Oils.

Prices' Vacuum.
GAS Motorine C. A.{Mr Adams} B.B. Castrol R.{Sir Henry Royce}
